A full CAN logger and an LTE telematics unit in one compact enclosure, built to stay on the vehicle from the first prototype to the production fleet.

Why it matters

Most programmes go dark exactly when the data matters most

REXGEN Air, continuous Traditional acquisition
Concept Development Pre-production Production

Concept and development vehicles are well instrumented. Pre-production and production rarely are, so the field data that proves durability and warranty goes uncaptured. REXGEN Air is built for all four stages.

What it does

Everything you need on the bus, and the link to the cloud

Connectivity

LTE Cat1

Every .RXD log uploaded to your own S3 bucket, NAS or server, at a sync rate you set, decoded on arrival.

CAN to Cloud

Four CAN FD

Up to four CAN or CAN FD channels at 8 Mbit/s, plus a LIN bus.

30 Hz GNSS

u-Blox M8U with dead reckoning and geofencing.

Secure eMMC

16 or 32 GB, soldered in.

Over the air configuration

Config and firmware, COTA and FOTA, signed.

6 axis IMU

Motion and orientation at up to 1 kHz, fused with GNSS.

From bus to bucket

One pipeline, decoded on arrival

Logs land in the cloud as standard files, then a serverless function decodes them with your DBC. Watch the fleet, storage and last sync from one place.

Managed

Web app

The full stack, cloud storage, serverless compute and a database. RXD and snapshot data arrive decoded and ready for dashboards.

Your infrastructure

AWS S3 only mode

Upload straight to your own S3 bucket. With a DBC file, a serverless function you deploy from GitHub auto converts to MF4, BLF or CSV. We can also set this up and run it for you.

Storage
Soldered in. Locked down.

Secure eMMC protects critical data from corruption and unauthorised access. There is no card to vibrate loose, eject, or walk off.

  • Shockproof and fixed, it cannot be dislodged in service
  • Faster read and write than an SD card, thanks to extra data lines
  • The medium cannot be removed unexpectedly
  • FIFO and partitioning keep the most recent data safe

Built for the job
Made for the field,
not just the bench

D-Sub connectors reinsert happily for R&D, but they are not made for the field. REXGEN Air uses an automotive Molex push lock, rated for the vibration, heat and dust of highway and off road use.

All within your reach

REXGEN Air front and back
  • 01

    Status and indicator LEDs

Four onboard LEDs provide quick feedback for CAN 0 and CAN 1 logging, GPS satellite connection and AWS/SIM server connection status.

  • 02

    USB 2.0

Micro USB for configuration with REXDESK and direct data retrieval.

  • 03

    SIM slot

Standard SIM for the LTE CAT1 modem, behind the front face.

  • 04

    FAKRA antenna ports

Separate keyed connectors for the LTE and GNSS antennas.

  • 05

    Molex Mini50, 24 pin

Automotive push lock carrying power, the CAN and LIN buses and the inputs.

Position

It keeps its place when the sky disappears

REXGEN Air carries the u-Blox M8U. When satellite view drops in a tunnel or a dense yard, inertial dead reckoning fuses the gyroscope and accelerometer with the last fix, so the track stays continuous. Geofencing is built in.

Go beyond the basics

Tailor behaviour through an open XML configuration in REXDESK or by hand. Filter signals, embed GNSS onto the CAN bus, route between buses as a gateway, insert faults and support UDS service 0x22.

REXLIBRARY, our open source toolkit on GitHub, handles file conversion, so you can build your own applications and cloud functions. Worked examples for every configuration feature are in the REXGEN XML examples on our docs site.

Where REXGEN Air fits

Three typical applications.

Off road EV in a mine running a four CAN install
Off road EV, mining

EV conversion monitoring

Recording four CAN networks and an analogue temperature sensor on vehicles converted to electric power, uploading continuously to the customer central server. Rugged connectors and secure eMMC keep data intact in harsh, remote conditions worldwide.

Lifespan battery logging

Uninterrupted data collection across an EV battery lifespan for warranty, where data loss is unacceptable. The device also acts as a gateway, adjusting time and date through custom CAN commands. Secure eMMC is the deciding advantage.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know

Does REXGEN Air need a SIM card?

Yes. A standard SIM fits behind the front face and feeds the LTE Cat1 modem. Once it is in, logs upload over the network with no further handling.

Where do the logs go?

Every .RXD log uploads over LTE to the managed web app or straight to your own AWS S3 bucket, at a sync rate you set, and is decoded on arrival.

Does it still record without coverage?

Yes. Recording is always local to the soldered eMMC first, then streamed when a link is available. Nothing is lost out of coverage, and FIFO and partitioning protect the most recent data until it uploads.

Can the data be converted automatically in the cloud?

Yes. A serverless function decodes each log with your DBC on arrival. In S3 only mode a function you deploy from GitHub auto converts to MF4, BLF or CSV.

Can I update devices remotely?

Yes. Configuration and firmware update over the air, COTA and FOTA, and both are signed.

What is the difference between REXGEN 2 and REXGEN Air?

REXGEN 2 is the local CAN logger. REXGEN Air adds the LTE modem, GNSS with dead reckoning, a 6 axis IMU and cloud upload, so data leaves the vehicle without a site visit.
