REXGEN Air: fit it, leave it, stream the data

Today's connected vehicles are not data loggers. REXGEN Air fills that gap with full SAE J1939 support, LTE upload to your server and over-the-air configuration and firmware across the fleet. Designed for permanent install on trucks, buses and coaches that work for a living.

Full J1939 with DM1 and FMS

Full SAE J1939 protocol including DM1 diagnostic trouble code monitoring and FMS (Fleet Management Standard) signals. Filter by PGN, source address and destination address at the device to control data volume before upload.

CAN FD ready

2 channels of CAN/CAN FD at up to 8 Mbit/s, expandable to 4 via breakout. Compatible with current and next-generation commercial vehicle networks including modern aftertreatment and telematics buses.

Cloud-native upload over LTE

LTE CAT 1 or CAT 4 with automatic upload to FTP, FTPS, S3 or HTTPS. Snapshot service decodes selected J1939 signals for trend dashboards. GNSS dead reckoning keeps the position trace continuous through cellular coverage gaps.

Fit and forget across the fleet

Non-removable eMMC up to 32 GB with 100% power-safe logging. Over-the-air configuration and firmware updates across thousands of vehicles. 5V to 27V input handles both 12V and 24V commercial electrical systems.

The challenge

What makes commercial vehicle data acquisition difficult

Fleets in active service are not test rigs. Logger choice has to match how the vehicle actually operates day-to-day.

Vehicles cannot stop for data downloads

Trucks, buses and coaches run revenue routes. Loggers that require physical retrieval, SD card swaps or scheduled vehicle access create downtime that the operator cannot afford. Permanent install with LTE upload removes that constraint.

J1939 traffic is dense and selective

Heavy-duty CAN networks carry hundreds of PGNs across engine, aftertreatment, transmission and body domains. Logging everything fills storage fast and obscures the signal that matters. PGN, source address and destination address filtering has to happen at the device.

Fleets span multiple platforms and operators

A single OEM monitors thousands of vehicles across customer operators. Configuration and firmware updates need to happen over-the-air across the fleet or the data programme stalls on service-bay availability.

What engineers say

Trusted by commercial vehicle teams

Everything in one package, installed in minutes, configured and logging in a few more and now all the data is accessible directly from my laptop. The REXGEN Air has really simplified what has traditionally been an 'expert' role to setup telematic data-loggers, thank you Influx Technology.

Frequently asked questions

Commercial vehicle data logging

Do Influx Technology loggers support SAE J1939 and FMS?

Yes. REXGEN Air, REXGEN 2, REBEL LT and REBEL CT all support SAE J1939 natively. The FMS (Fleet Management Standard) subset is supported as a defined PGN group within J1939. REXDESK provides PGN-based filtering by source address, destination address and PGN. DM1 diagnostic trouble code monitoring is built in.

Can REXGEN Air operate on 24V commercial vehicle systems?

Yes. REXGEN Air accepts 5V to 27V input. REBEL LT accepts 4.7V to 36V. Both ranges cover 12V and 24V commercial vehicle electrical systems without external voltage converters or DC-DC modules.

How does REXGEN Air support fleet-scale deployment?

REXGEN Air connects via LTE (CAT 1 or CAT 4) to upload data automatically to your server via FTP, FTPS, S3 or HTTPS. Configuration and firmware update over-the-air across the entire fleet without physical access to the vehicles. eMMC storage up to 32 GB buffers data through extended periods offline.

Can I monitor J1939 DM1 fault codes remotely across the fleet?

Yes. REXGEN Air supports J1939 DM1 fault monitoring with configurable triggers. DM1 counter triggers can start recording around fault events with pre and post-event capture. The snapshot service periodically sends decoded J1939 signals to your server for trend monitoring and warranty case files.

What is the difference between REXGEN Air, REXGEN Pro and REBEL LT for commercial vehicles?

REXGEN Air is the permanent-install logger for fleets in active service: LTE upload, OTA configuration, non-removable eMMC, 5V to 27V input. REXGEN Pro is the on-vehicle edge platform: deterministic CAN capture underneath, with driver behaviour scoring, predictive maintenance and OTA module apps running on the device. REBEL LT is the removable logger for single-vehicle test work: removable SD card, no built-in cellular, 4.7V to 36V input. Most OEM programmes use a combination: REXGEN Air on the fleet for streaming, REXGEN Pro where edge compute matters, REBEL LT for individual test campaigns.

When does REXGEN Pro fit a commercial vehicle fleet?

REXGEN Pro fits OEMs running programme-grade edge platforms on commercial vehicles: driver behaviour scoring, predictive maintenance computation, OTA module updates and diagnostics that run on the vehicle rather than waiting for data to reach the cloud. REXGEN Air handles capture-and-stream; REXGEN Pro handles capture-and-compute. The two are commonly deployed together on the same fleet for different jobs. REXGEN Pro is enquiry-only, so discuss your application with our engineering team.

How does GNSS dead reckoning work in cellular coverage gaps?

REXGEN Air's integrated GNSS receiver supports dead reckoning using vehicle motion data when satellite signal is lost (tunnels, urban canyons, depots). The position trace remains continuous through coverage gaps. Logged data buffers to non-removable eMMC and uploads automatically via LTE when coverage returns.

How do I add engine bay, exhaust or brake thermal monitoring during commercial vehicle test campaigns?

The K-TC module is a CAN-output K-type thermocouple system designed for high-temperature monitoring on commercial vehicles. Up to 32 channels with plus or minus 1C accuracy, supporting K, J and T thermocouple types. CAN bus isolation rated to 780V. K-TC outputs CAN messages that REXGEN Air, REBEL LT or REXGEN 2 record alongside J1939 traffic on the same time base. Common deployments cover engine bay, EGT (exhaust gas temperature) and brake pad temperatures during durability validation.
