Fleet instrumentationAnalogue on a budget
Adding analogue sensors and PWM to fleet vehicles cost effectively, with WakeOnCAN for quick unattended installs.
K-AN8 · Analogue and digital module
K-AN8 is the cost effective way to measure analogue and digital signals together, with outputs to switch relays and indicators on the rig. Everything lands on CAN for any logger, time synchronised with the network data.
Bipolar differential inputs at variable rates: all 8 at 1 kHz, 4 at 2 kHz or 2 at 10 kHz, on software switchable ranges from ±80 V to ±10 V.
Three inputs for frequency, counter or pulse measurement to 100 kHz, alongside the analogue channels and on the same CAN timeline.
Transmits standard CAN with a supplied DBC file, so any logger decodes it, REBEL, REXGEN or third party.
Four open collector outputs switch relays and indicators from K-CAL logic, and the states are logged on CAN with the measurements.
Regulated 5 V and 24 V outputs supply external sensors, up to 80 mA combined. Fewer boxes on the rig.
Set ranges, rates and CAN IDs over the bus, watch the built in oscilloscope, export a DBC. Settings stored in the module even when unpowered.

Under the skin
Sixteen bit conversion, isolation, sensor supplies and deep sleep, at the price of a much simpler box.
Galvanic isolation separates the enclosure, power, CAN and the analogue board, with over voltage protection to +150 V on the analogue channels. High input impedance keeps the module out of the circuit it is measuring.

Fastest, on two channels
25 way D-Sub to the 8 differential inputs, with the supplied screw terminal system.
4 digital channels as inputs or outputs, 3 usable as frequency, counter or pulse inputs to 100 kHz.
Regulated 5 V and 24 V outputs power external sensors, 80 mA combined.
Daisy chain in and out connectors link power and CAN through a stack of K-Series modules.
Applications
Analogue and digital capture with switching outputs, straight onto CAN.

Rig controlReading sensors while switching relays for valves and fans through the outputs, keeping the states on the same CAN log.
Powered sensor rigPressure, position and speed sensors powered by the module's own regulated 5 V and 24 V supply, measured and streamed on one CAN timeline.

Frequently asked questions
K-AN8 is the analogue and digital module; K-BOX adds 8 thermocouple inputs on top of the same analogue front end. If you need temperatures in the same box, choose K-BOX.
They are open collector outputs rated 45 V and 10 mA, made for switching relays, indicators and logic inputs. Drive bigger loads through a relay.
Over the CAN bus in K-CAL, using an Influx logger or a CAN to USB interface such as a Kvaser Leaf, available on request.
Yes, with a current clamp into the analogue inputs, within the ±80 V to ±10 V switchable ranges.
Yes. Regulated 5 V and 24 V outputs supply up to 80 mA combined for external sensors.
Yes. K-AN8 transmits standard CAN and ships with a DBC file, so any logger or analysis tool decodes it.
