Full is never the end of the recording

Logs write straight to 8 GB of soldered eMMC. Once it is full, FIFO logic overwrites the oldest file first, so the most recent data always survives.

Is REXGEN 1 a vehicle black box?

It works exactly like one. It records the CAN bus continuously to soldered eMMC with nothing to eject or lose, FIFO logic keeps the most recent history once the 8 GB is full, and deep sleep at under 2 mA means it can stay fitted for the life of the vehicle.

Does REXGEN 1 support CAN FD?

No. REXGEN 1 records classic CAN (2.0 A and B) up to 1 Mbit/s. If you need CAN FD, a second channel or a LIN bus, REXGEN 2 is the right device.

What happens when the 8 GB eMMC is full?

FIFO logic overwrites the oldest file first, so logging never stops and the most recent data is always preserved. Cyclic logging mode is also supported.

Can it work as a live CAN interface?

Yes. REXGEN 1 functions as a J2534 pass-thru device over its micro USB 2.0 port, streaming CAN in real time to diagnostic tools and applications such as SavvyCAN.

Will it drain the vehicle battery?

No. Deep sleep draws under 2 mA and normal sleep under 17 mA, with WakeOnCAN bringing it back the moment the bus becomes active. In normal logging it draws 87 mA at 12 V.

What is the difference between REXGEN 1 and REXGEN 2?

REXGEN 1 has a single classic CAN channel and 8 GB of storage. REXGEN 2 adds a second channel, CAN FD up to 8 Mbit/s, a LIN bus, two digital and two analogue inputs and up to 16 GB of storage.
