REXGEN Pro: Wi-Fi, LTE and cloud upload
Connect REXGEN Pro to your Wi-Fi network and reach it from REXDESK without a cable. Then send its logs and receive new configurations through your AWS S3 bucket.
Before you start
- The Wi-Fi antenna, fitted to the FAKRA Z port.
- For LTE, a SIM and the LTE antenna, fitted to the FAKRA D port. See REXGEN Pro quick start guide.
- A power supply for the logger.
- A PC, phone or tablet that can join a Wi-Fi network and open a web page.
- REXDESK, installed on a Windows PC on the same Wi-Fi network as the logger.
Put the logger on your Wi-Fi
A new REXGEN Pro broadcasts its own Wi-Fi hotspot, named after its serial number. You join that hotspot once to give the logger the details of your own network.
-
Join the logger's hotspot. On your PC, phone or tablet, open the Wi-Fi settings. Select the network named after the logger's serial number, for example
INF-REX01_A1_B001_SN0000005.
The hotspot name ends in the logger's serial number. - Enter the hotspot password. Use the password that Influx Technology support supplied with the logger. Change it after setup, and treat it like any other credential.
-
Choose your network. The Wi-Fi Configuration page opens in the browser. Select your network in SSID, enter its Password and select Configure.

Tick Show Password to check what you entered. -
Wait for the confirmation. The page shows Configuration Successful and the hotspot disconnects.

The hotspot closes as soon as the logger accepts the details. - Check LED 8. After about a minute LED 8 turns solid, which shows the logger has joined your network. LED 8 blinks while data moves over Wi-Fi.
Connect REXDESK over TCP/IP
- Open the interface menu. In REXDESK, select the interface icon at the lower left of the status bar, then select TCP/IP. You can also open it from the TCP/IP tab.
-
Scan for loggers. The ReXgen Connect window opens. Select Scan Local Network to list every REXGEN Pro on the network.

The window before a scan. - Select your logger. Find it in Devices found by its name and IP address, then select Connect.
-
Close the window. When REXDESK confirms the connection, select OK. The status bar reads Interface: Socket and CONNECTED, with the logger's firmware, serial number and configuration name.

Interface: Socket means REXDESK reaches the logger over the network, not USB.
- Name
- A name for the logger, so you can find it again.
- ReXgen IP
- The IP address of the logger on your network.
- Scan Local Network
- Finds every REXGEN Pro on the network.
- Connect
- Connects REXDESK to the selected logger over Wi-Fi.
Set up LTE
- Open the cloud settings. Select Tools > Cloud Settings.
-
Add the mobile settings. On the Mobile tab, select New Mobile and enter the details of your SIM provider.

The Cloud Settings window holds the Mobile, Wi-Fi, FTP and S3 settings. - Check LED 7. LED 7 turns solid when the logger is connected to LTE and blinks while data moves over LTE.
For every field on the Mobile tab, see REXDESK: upload logs to AWS S3, MinIO or Google Cloud Storage. If the logger does not connect, see REXGEN: check the LTE connection with the debug tool.
Upload logs to AWS S3
First create the bucket and an access key. The AWS side is the same for REXGEN Pro as for REXGEN Air. See REXGEN Air: uploading logs to Amazon S3.
- Add the bucket. In Tools > Cloud Settings, open the S3 tab, select New S3 and enter the bucket details.
- Prepare the configuration. Build the base configuration for the logger, for example a Log All configuration.
- Enable the upload. In the Device Configuration window, open the Upload tab and tick Enable AWS. If you saved one cloud setting, REXDESK fills in the fields on the tab. If you saved several, choose the one you want from each drop-down menu.
- Send the configuration. Select Run on the navigation bar.
- Save the project. Select Save Project to save it under your own name, or select Continue as "New Project". When the configuration has uploaded, select OK.
- Format the internal storage. Do this after you send a configuration with S3 upload enabled.
The FTP Settings tab works the same way for an FTP server. See REXDESK: upload logs to an FTP server.
Send a new configuration over the air
Once the logger uploads to S3, it also checks the bucket for a new configuration at an interval you set. You can then change what it records without going to the vehicle.
- Make the new configuration. Build it in REXDESK and tick Enable AWS in Device Configuration.
- Set the check interval. In the configuration check time field, enter how often the logger looks for a new configuration.
- Save the project. Give it the name you want for the configuration.
- Export it. Open the Config tab, select Export, then select Export ReXgen Configuration (rxc). Save the file.
-
Rename the file. Call it
config.rxc. -
Upload it to the bucket. Place
config.rxcwhere the logger looks for it. See REXDESK: send a new configuration over the air.
