REXGEN Pro: recording CAN FD, LIN, GNSS and IMU
Learn what REXGEN Pro records from each source and how to mount it so the IMU axes match the vehicle. Each section links to the REXDESK guide for its settings.
CAN and CAN FD
REXGEN Pro records up to four CAN or CAN FD buses, on the bench or in field tests. It supports every standard CAN and CAN FD bit rate. In REXDESK you can also set custom bit rates and change the advanced bit timing.
- Filters. Keep only the messages you need with CAN ID and J1939 filters.
- Triggers. Start or stop logging on a CAN ID, a signal value or a J1939 DM1 message.
- Storage. The logger saves everything to its secure internal storage (eMMC). It can upload the logs to your cloud over LTE or Wi-Fi.
These guides cover the REXDESK settings.
- REXDESK: record CAN, CAN FD and LIN
- REXDESK: filter CAN IDs, J1939 PGNs and UDS requests
- REXDESK: start and stop logging with triggers
For cloud upload, see REXGEN Pro: Wi-Fi, LTE and cloud upload.

LIN
REXGEN Pro has two LIN buses. Each works in master or slave mode. The logger saves LIN data to internal storage alongside CAN, ready to upload.
For the LIN settings and schedule tables, see REXDESK: record CAN, CAN FD and LIN.

GNSS
The internal GNSS module works with an external active antenna with a 3 V supply, fitted to the FAKRA C port. It uses the GPS and QZSS, GLONASS, BeiDou and Galileo constellations.
REXGEN Pro records GNSS data at up to 10 Hz.
To set the rate, the constellations and the items to record, see REXDESK: set up GNSS and the IMU.

Accelerometer and gyroscope
The internal 6-axis IMU combines an accelerometer and a gyroscope. The logger records both at up to 1 kHz.
| Sensor | Full scale | Logging rate |
|---|---|---|
| Accelerometer | ±2, ±4, ±8 or ±16 g | Up to 1 kHz |
| Gyroscope | ±125, ±250, ±500, ±1000 or ±2000 dps | Up to 1 kHz |

Mount it for correct IMU axes
The IMU measures along the logger's own axes, so mount the logger aligned with the vehicle. X points forward, Y to the left and Z up, with the top of the logger facing the sky.
- Align the logger. Place it in the vehicle so the IMU inside lines up with the vehicle axes.
- Keep the top up. Mount it with the top of the enclosure facing the sky.
- Fix it firmly. Do not let the orientation change during installation or use. If it must change, limit the change to one axis.
To enter the mounting angles in REXDESK, see REXDESK: set up GNSS and the IMU.
Analogue and digital inputs
Use the inputs to record status from devices, machines and sensors, such as switch and key states. Triggers can also start and stop logging on the input values.
- 3 analogue inputs, ±10 V, 12-bit, up to 1 kHz.
- 2 digital inputs, one of them PWM-capable. An input reads low below 0.8 V and high above 2.5 V.
To set them up, see REXDESK: log analogue and digital inputs. For the input pins and wiring examples, see REXGEN Pro: pinouts, SIM, LEDs and installation.

Get the data out
Download logs from internal storage with REXDESK, or collect them from your cloud bucket. Then export them to ASAM MDF4, CSV, MATLAB, ASC, BLF, TRC or Apache Parquet. See REXDESK: download and export your logs.
