REXDESK release notes
What changed in each REXDESK release documented so far, from 1.2.8 to 1.2.37, with the fixes and known issues of each.
Which version you have
The version number shows in the REXDESK title bar. To get the current installer, see Software downloads: installers, drivers and firmware. To update an existing installation, see REXDESK: install the software and the REXGEN USB driver.
Notes for releases after 1.2.37 will follow here.
Version 1.2.37
This release reworked the REXDESK window and added cloud, GNSS and export features.
New
- A Projects window gives quick access to all your projects.
- You can select snapshot items for REXGEN Air from a DBC file, including DBC files in the library. More than one snapshot file is a licensed feature, available on request.
- Network Time Protocol (NTP) support lets S3 upload work in regions where the mobile network does not supply UTC.
- One ZIP package holds the firmware for every REXGEN model, ready for a firmware update.
- A new CST export format shows the CAN trace as comma-separated values.
- Loggers can upload to S3-compatible storage services such as MinIO. REXGEN XML supports MinIO too.
- GNSS channels have advanced settings.
- You can import ARXML files for CAN signals.
- Advanced dead reckoning is supported.
- Geofencing is supported.
- An option uploads all files to the FTP or S3 server before the logger goes to sleep.
- MDF4 exports are sorted.
- The live data window shows internal channels: GNSS, ADC, IMU and digital.
- An option records the periodic messages the logger transmits to its internal storage.
- You can link signals to selected messages, with the RTC and timestamp synchronised.
Fixes
- Fixed timestamp errors when logging LIN and CAN together.
- Fixed issues with digital triggers.
- Fixed a crash when opening a log file holding analogue or digital data.
- Fixed error messages when importing a DBC file after loading a configuration from the logger.
- Exported
.rxcfiles now take the file name as the configuration name. - Fixed special characters in the configuration name for S3 upload.
- Fixed minor issues when recording raw CAN and CAN FD data in RXD and converting it to BLF.
- Added the 100 kbit/s CAN bit rate.
- Fixed recording CAN data with the identifier
0x000. - Added more detailed GNSS settings for a well-defined configuration. Corrected a description in the GNSS configuration window.
- Fixed File > Save Project As, which did nothing.
- Fixed XML that was sometimes generated with
InitialEnableStateset to false. - Fixed project naming when saving a project as an XML file.
- Fixed incorrect timestamps in
.trcfiles. - Fixed importing XML with floating-point values.
- Fixed configuring snapshot items from a DBC file with a DLC under 8 bytes.
- Fixed region selection when you enter custom S3 server credentials. Fixed updating S3 settings.
- Fixed merging data with a DBC file that holds multiplexed signals.
- Extended flags removed from CAN IDs.
Known issues in 1.2.37
- Timestamp errors in the live data of internal channels.
- Firmware update over the air was temporarily disabled in this release.
Earlier versions
Version 1.2.15
- Fixed CAN 3 not recording when there was no CAN 2.
- Fixed linking DBC and LDF files to their buses in the export window.
- Fixed DBC parsing issues.
- Fixed editing XML files exported earlier.
- Added resampling when exporting to CSV and MAT. Resampling does not apply when you use the concatenation option.
- REXDESK depends on the .NET Framework 4.7.2 and the Visual C++ runtime for Visual Studio 2015. The installer now checks for them and offers to install them.
- Added triggers on a parameter value.
- Fixed APN settings being duplicated when a logger configuration was loaded.
- Added an FTP configuration name field.
- Added support for 500 MB AWS uploads.
Version 1.2.8
- Output messages can include linked messages.
- Added export of CAN data to the PEAK CAN trace format (
.trc). - The command line supports merging, export to InfluxDB and DBC attachments.
- Added support for LIN log all and schedule tables.
- Added GNSS accuracy parameters: horizontal, vertical and speed accuracy.
- Added LDF import into the library.
- Added export of LIN data to MDF, MAT and CSV.
- Added support for a third and fourth CAN FD channel.
- Each logger creates a main folder on the FTP server named after its serial number.
- Added firmware updates over FTP. Firmware delivered over FTP needs a SHA-256 file for validation.
- Added snapshot support for FTP, DAQ items and DAQ blocks.
- Added FTP and IMU features.
- Analogue data is shown in volts.
