DIALOG: set the clock, format the SD card and update REBEL firmware
Keep a REBEL ready to record. Set its clock, format its SD card and choose what happens when the card is full. Update its firmware and save a diagnostic log for support.
Before you start
- DIALOG and the REBEL USB driver, installed. See DIALOG: install it and activate, deactivate or move a licence.
- The REBEL, connected to the PC with its USB cable, and DIALOG running. Keep the logger connected for every task in this guide.
Every command in this guide is on the Logger menu of the navigation bar. DIALOG Remote, the free maintenance utility, does the same jobs. See DIALOG Remote: install it, prepare the SD card and maintain a REBEL.
Set the clock
- Open Set Time. Select Logger > Set Time.
-
Enter the date and time. In Rebel Time, set Date and Time to match your time zone.

The date and time are blurred in this picture. - Save the time. Select OK.
Format the SD card
- Open Format SD. Select Logger > Format SD.
- Confirm the format. When DIALOG asks Are you sure you want to format SD Card?, select Yes. Select No to cancel without formatting.
-
Wait for the format. DIALOG formats the card to FAT32. Do not remove the SD card or power cycle the logger while the progress bar runs.

Leave the card in place and the logger powered until formatting ends. - Choose whether to keep the configuration. When DIALOG asks Do you want to erase the active Configuration?, select Yes to erase it or No to keep it.
- Check the result. Status messages reports when formatting is complete.
Format a new card in the logger at least once before you use it to carry a configuration from the PC. For that route, see DIALOG: create projects and configurations and send them to a REBEL.
Keep recording when the card is full
A REBEL can delete its oldest file when the card fills (first in, first out) instead of stopping.
- Open the logger settings. Select Logger > Settings.
- Select User Info. In Logger Information, select the User Info tab.
- Enable FIFO. Tick Delete oldest file when SD card is full.
- Apply the change. Select Update.
Max Log Time and Max File Size on the same tab limit each recording file. The tab also holds User Name and Allow SD Card Format from Rebel.

Update the firmware
REBEL firmware files end in .frm. Use the file Influx Technology supplies for your logger. If you are not sure which file is current, ask support before you update the firmware.
- Open Reflash. Select Logger > Reflash. The Reflash window opens on its Firmware tab and shows the Connected Rebel firmware version.
-
Choose the file. Select Browse firmware, find the firmware file and select Open.

The file dialog lists only REBEL firmware files. - Check the details. File name, Version and Date/Time describe the file you chose.
- Start the update. Select Reprogram and confirm with Yes.
-
Wait for it to finish. The window shows Reflashing in Progress. The firmware update is complete when that message disappears.

The Reflash window while the firmware is written.
The Events tab of the Reflash window logs the communication between DIALOG and the logger. Log file shows where DIALOG keeps reprogramming.log.
Save a diagnostic log for support
Before you contact support, save the logger's diagnostic log. It identifies your exact setup:
- The serial number
- The firmware
- The fitted optional hardware
- The active file
- The free space on the card
- Open Reflash. Select Logger > Reflash.
- Show the log. Select the Diagnostics tab.
- Save the log. Select Save, name the file, choose where to keep it and select Save.
- Close the window. Select Close.

Send the file with your question through technical support.
