OBD and power adapter cables: INF4102, INF4103 and INF4206
Connect a logger to the vehicle OBD port or to an auxiliary power source with INF4102, INF4103 or INF4206. Then check that the vehicle supply suits the logger or module on the other end.
Which cable to use
| Part | From | To | Use with |
|---|---|---|---|
INF4102 |
OBD type B plug, 180 degree | 25-way D-Sub socket | REBEL LT and REBEL CT, straight onto the logger |
INF4103 |
OBD type B plug, 180 degree | 9-way D-Sub socket | The CAN0/PWR lead of a REBEL breakout cable, REXGEN 1 and REXGEN 2, and Kvaser interfaces |
INF4206 |
Auxiliary power plug or banana plugs | 9-way D-Sub socket with power, 9-way D-Sub plug for CAN | A logger or K-Series module powered without the OBD port |
A type B OBD plug also fits a type A socket.
The vehicle OBD connector
Both OBD cables plug into the vehicle's 16-way diagnostic socket (SAE J1962). The drawing shows the socket in the vehicle. The cable plug is its mirror image.
Pin 16 carries the vehicle's permanent battery supply, so a logger connected to the OBD port stays powered when the ignition is off. Some vehicles use pins 3 and 11 for a second CAN bus. INF4102 connects them to CAN 1.
INF4102 OBD to REBEL cable

This 1.7 m cable connects REBEL LT and REBEL CT directly to the vehicle diagnostic CAN bus and the permanent battery supply. Use it with REBEL loggers only.
| OBD pin | Signal | 25-way pin |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | CAN-H, CAN 1 (medium-speed bus) | 19 |
| 4 | Power ground | 22 |
| 5 | Signal ground | 21 |
| 6 | CAN-H, CAN 0 (high-speed bus) | 20 |
| 7 | K-Line (ISO 9141) | 8 |
| 11 | CAN-L, CAN 1 (medium-speed bus) | 6 |
| 14 | CAN-L, CAN 0 (high-speed bus) | 7 |
| 16 | Battery supply, passed through | 9 |
The other pins are not connected. REBEL CT does not use pin 8, so the K-Line works with REBEL LT only.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Length | 1700 mm |
| Wire | 22 AWG |
| Connector A | 25-way D-Sub socket with screws |
| Connector B | OBD-II 16-way plug, 180 degree |

| Weight | 247 g |
INF4103 OBD to 9-way cable

This 1.7 m cable connects a 9-way CAN device to the vehicle diagnostic CAN bus and the permanent battery supply. Use it with:
- A REBEL logger. Plug it into the CAN0/PWR lead of the INF4203 two CAN breakout cable or the INF4204.1 multi-connect cable. The logger's CAN 0 then connects to the vehicle diagnostic bus.
- REXGEN 1 or REXGEN 2. Plug it into the logger's 9-way connector.
- A Kvaser interface. Plug it into the interface's 9-way connector.
| OBD pin | Signal | 9-way pin |
|---|---|---|
| 4 | Power ground | 5 |
| 5 | Signal ground | 3 |
| 6 | CAN-H (high-speed bus) | 7 |
| 7 | K-Line (ISO 9141) | 4 |
| 14 | CAN-L (high-speed bus) | 2 |
| 16 | Battery supply, passed through | 9 |
The other pins are not connected.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Length | 1700 mm |
| Wire | 22 AWG |
| Connector A | 9-way D-Sub socket with screws, wired to CiA 303-1 |

| Operating temperature | -20 to +80 °C |
| Weight | 236 g |
INF4206 power adapter cable

Use INF4206 to power a REBEL or REXGEN logger or a K-Series module when you cannot take power from the OBD port. Power comes from the vehicle's auxiliary power outlet (cigar lighter) or, through the banana plugs, from the battery. Some REXGEN documents call it the multipower supply and CAN cable.
The cable has two 9-way leads:
- CAN/PWR/K-Line, female socket with screws. Carries CAN, K-Line and the supply. Plug the logger's CAN0/PWR lead or the module's CAN input into it.
- CAN/K-Line, male plug with nuts. Passes CAN and K-Line on without power. For example, plug it into the 9-way socket of an INF4103 to reach the vehicle diagnostic bus.
| Pin | Signal |
|---|---|
| 2 | CAN-L |
| 3 | Ground |
| 4 | K-Line |
| 5 | Power ground |
| 7 | CAN-H |
| 9 | Supply from the auxiliary plug or the red banana plug, passed through |
| Pin | Signal |
|---|---|
| 2 | CAN-L |
| 3 | Ground |
| 4 | K-Line (ISO 9141) |
| 7 | CAN-H |
| Input | Function |
|---|---|
| Auxiliary power plug | Supply positive and ground from the outlet, with an indicator LED |
| Red banana plug | Supply positive |
| Black banana plug | Power ground |
The cable is 230 mm long with 26 AWG (0.4 mm) wire. It weighs 219 g and works from -20 to +80 °C. Some older documents call it an OBD cable, but it has no OBD connector.
Check the supply against the device
None of these cables regulates the supply. Some older pages label the supply pin "4.5 to 36 V", but the pin carries whatever the vehicle or battery supplies. Check that it suits the logger or module you connect.
| Logger or module | Supply range |
|---|---|
| REBEL LT | 4.5 to 36 V DC |
| REBEL CT | 4.5 to 36 V DC |
| REXGEN 1 and REXGEN 2 | +5 to +27 V DC, +34 V maximum |
| K-TC | 4.5 to 31 V DC |
| K-BOX and K-AN8 | 6 to 36 V DC |
Check the highest voltage the supply reaches with the engine running, not only its nominal voltage. The part number index links the pinout guide of every logger and module. See Cables and accessories: part number index.
