REXGEN OEM: overview and specifications
Understand what REXGEN OEM is and how its Linux platform talks to the logger inside it, then check its specification before you plan an integration.
This series covers REXGEN OEM in six guides, listed at the end of this guide. It is for developers and integrators.
What REXGEN OEM is
REXGEN OEM pairs a REXGEN data logger, called the embedded platform, with a Linux application processor in one enclosure. The Linux side runs a Yocto-based distribution on an NXP i.MX8M Mini quad-core processor, and you can run your own applications on it. REXGEN OEM appears as REXGEN SMART in its software and on its console.
The embedded platform records and provides data from these sources:
- CAN and CAN FD buses
- The IMU (accelerometer and gyroscope)
- Analogue inputs
- Digital inputs
GNSS data reaches Linux separately, as NMEA sentences on a serial port.
Your Linux applications read and write that data through the data pipes or through SocketCAN, and manage the logger with the rexgen command. REXGEN OEM uses the same JAE compact automotive 34-way connector and pin assignment as REXGEN Pro.
