REXGEN ProPinout
REXGEN Pro: pinouts, SIM, LEDs and installation
Find the pin for every signal on the REXGEN Pro JAE 34-pin connector and the INF4219 breakout. This guide also covers the antenna ports, the SIM, the LEDs and mounting.
Connectors at a glance
REXGEN Pro has one JAE compact automotive 34-pin connector, which suits fixed installation in production machines. The optional INF4219 breakout cable turns it into a female 25-way D-Sub connector and an RJ45 Ethernet socket. Signal names stay the same on both sides of the breakout.

To split the 25-way D-Sub into 9-way D-Sub leads, use a multi-connect. Choose the 2-way INF4203, with two 9-way D-Sub connectors, or the 5-way INF4204.1. For the signal on each lead with REXGEN Pro, ask technical support.
RJ45 Ethernet
Ethernet is optional. On the breakout, it uses two pairs of a standard RJ45 socket.
| Pin | Signal | Wire colour |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Transmit + (D1) | White with orange stripe |
| 2 | Transmit − (D1) | Orange with white stripe, or solid orange |
| 3 | Receive + (D2) | White with green stripe |
| 4 | Not connected | None |
| 5 | Not connected | None |
| 6 | Receive − (D2) | Green with white stripe, or solid green |
| 7 | Not connected | None |
| 8 | Not connected | None |
Antenna ports
REXGEN Pro needs external antennas for LTE, GNSS and Wi-Fi. They are sold separately, like the breakout cable. Each port is a keyed, colour-coded FAKRA connector, so an antenna fits only its own port.
| Port | Colour | Antenna |
|---|---|---|
| FAKRA Z | Water blue | Wi-Fi |
| FAKRA C | Blue | GNSS, active antenna with a 3 V supply |
| FAKRA D | Bordeaux violet | LTE |
The LTE and Wi-Fi ports also need active 3 V antennas.
SIM card
Loggers with a non-soldered SIM take a nano SIM in a tray beside the antenna ports.
- Eject the tray carefully. Rough handling can damage the logger and the SIM.
-
Insert the SIM chip facing upwards.

The tray slides out of the antenna end of the logger. - Slide the tray back in. Check that it sits flush before you power the logger.
LEDs
Eight LEDs on the lid show the logging activity. They are numbered 1 to 8.
| LED | Function | Indication |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | CAN 0 | Solid: configuration active. Slow blink: logging. Fast blink: bit rate mismatch or CAN error. Check the connection. |
| 2 | CAN 1 | Solid: configuration active. Slow blink: logging. Fast blink: bit rate mismatch or CAN error. Check the connection. |
| 3 | CAN 2 | Solid: configuration active. Slow blink: logging. Fast blink: bit rate mismatch or CAN error. Check the connection. |
| 4 | CAN 3 | Solid: configuration active. Slow blink: logging. Fast blink: bit rate mismatch or CAN error. Check the connection. |
| 5 | AIP | Solid: application interface platform active. Any other pattern can mean a fault. |
| 6 | GNSS | Solid: configured. Off: not configured. Blinking: valid fix. |
| 7 | LTE | Solid: connected. Off: not connected. Blinking: transferring data. |
| 8 | Wi-Fi | Solid: connected. Off: no interface connected. Blinking: transferring data. |
Wiring the digital inputs
The digital inputs read a voltage below 0.8 V as low and above 2.5 V as high. Drive them from a switch, a transistor, a relay contact or a logic buffer such as a Schmitt trigger. Fit a 1 kΩ pull-up resistor to the +4.5 V instrumentation supply on breakout pin 10.
Keep the total draw on the instrumentation supply at 100 mA or less. The specification lists two digital inputs, and the connector has pins for four.
Wake-up input
REXGEN Pro wakes from sleep on CAN activity, on movement or on a digital input. To set the wake sources, see REXDESK: sleep and wake settings.
The breakout labels a Wake-up# pin. A wake-up pin is held high and wakes the logger when switched to ground for longer than 20 ms. On REXGEN Pro, this pin is not connected, and the JAE connector has no wake-up pin.
Installation
Mounting
Mount the logger where vibration is as low as possible and where IP65 protection is enough. REXGEN Pro comes with four mounting screws.

| Item | Size |
|---|---|
| Mounting hole diameter | 3.6 mm |
| Screw diameter, body | 2.88 mm |
| Screw diameter, head | 5.33 mm |
| Screw length | 33.05 mm |
Supply voltage
Keep the supply voltage between 6.5 V and 27 V. The logger has internal protection against low-energy voltage events caused by noise on the supply wires.
Termination and grounding
ISO 11898 specifies a CAN bus with a nominal characteristic impedance of 120 Ω. Terminate each end of the bus with a 120 Ω resistor. Termination keeps signal reflections on the bus to a minimum.
CAN nodes do not need a common ground, so ground offsets can occur. Each node may then see different single-ended bus voltages while the differential voltage stays the same. Large ground offsets can increase electromagnetic emissions. If your system is sensitive to emissions, remove the offsets.
See CAN bus wiring: termination, cable length and grounding.
