REXGEN OEM: the rexgen command reference

Use the rexgen command on the REXGEN OEM Linux platform. It checks the logger, sets its clock, changes its configuration, manages its storage and updates its firmware.

Usage

Run rexgen on its own to list the commands.

rexgen [COMMAND [PARAMETERS]] [COMMAND [PARAMETERS]] ...
rexgen commands
Command What it does
version Shows the versions of the configuration and stream tools.
firmware Shows the logger firmware version.
serial [short] Shows the serial number, in full or short form.
SD log|rxd|format|info Manages the logs in the logger's internal storage.
hwinfo Shows the hardware configuration and what is connected to it.
date set|get Sets or reads the logger's date and time.
config Shows the configuration name and UUID.
configure <file.rxc> Sends a configuration created in REXDESK to the logger.
reflash <file.bin> Updates the logger firmware from a firmware file.
shutdown Puts the REXGEN OEM to sleep immediately.

The outputs in this guide are examples. Your versions, serial number and figures differ.

Hardware information

rexgen hwinfo lists the board, its interfaces and the sensors fitted.

Configuration

Check the current configuration

Send a new configuration

  1. Export the configuration. Create it in REXDESK or with the command line tool and export it as an .rxc file.
  2. Copy it to the Linux platform. Place it in /home/root/rexusb/config, for example over SFTP.
  3. Send it to the logger. Run rexgen configure with the file path:

Change the configuration only when your application needs it or when Influx Technology support asks you to.

Make a configuration the default

At start-up, the Linux platform sends a configuration to the logger from /opt/influx/autostart.sh. To change it, edit the configure line in that file:

# load to RexGen proper configuration
/home/root/rexusb/rexgen configure /home/root/rexusb/config/Smart_v1.rxc

The same file starts the Quectel modem with /opt/influx/cellular_module_start.sh.

Storage

The SD commands work on the logger's internal storage (eMMC).

rexgen SD info
Shows the status of the internal storage: type, version, block size, full size and free space.
rexgen SD log count
Shows how many logs the internal storage holds.
rexgen SD log <number>
Shows the details of one log: start and end time, size in bytes, configuration name, start sector and end sector.
rexgen SD rxd <number> or rexgen SD rxd all
Saves one log, or all of them, as RXD files in /data/rexgen/rxd. The RXD_FOLDER variable in /home/root/rexusb/etc/rexgen.conf sets the folder.
rexgen SD format
Asks for confirmation, then formats the internal storage. This erases every log on it.

rexgen shutdown puts the REXGEN OEM to sleep immediately.
