CAN
CAN is a serial, asynchronous, multi-master communication protocol mainly used for real-time control applications needing high levels of data integrity. Developed by Robert Bosch Gmbh in the early 1980s for the needs of the automotive industry, nowadays CAN is an industry standard for the in-vehicle communication network and can be found in almost all forms of transport, from passenger cars, trucks and busses to ships, aircraft and spacecraft. It is documented by the ISO(International Standards Organization) in ISO 11898 Road Vehicles – Controller Area Network standard . CAN has been adopted by other industries as well, especially the industrial plant automation industry.
